about
Chicago was written as a birthday gift for my girlfriend... which sounds sappy, and it is... but without knowing it, it became something very special for the both of us.
The song opens with me describing my view from the top of the former Sears Tower in Chicago. As I continue to listen to this song it is a reminder of the glass-half-full perspective that it takes to truly value the people you love.
I hope that it brings you the same joy that it brought my sobbing girlfriend on her birthday.
Love,
She Bear.
lyrics
Sunsets from Heights human eyes can’t see
Abnormally in awe of something next to me
Clear skies and sunshine are not guaranteed
Brown eyes and you’re smile are alright with me
Something about the way we snort when you laugh
Or apologize nicely when you bump your hand against mine.
Can’t tell the future or promise we’ll be rich
But fulfilled we’ll be with Jesus, Love, and your kiss.
Oooohhhh
How beautiful you are
Ohhhhhh
How lovely are your cheeks when you smile at me
Your sun kissed face that I’ll continue to chase till the end of my days
Oh
When I hear your voice I shake
Come out and see me face-to-face
Stick with me and babe you’ll see that Chicago is just the beginning
Through trials and tests we’ll see it through... I just can’t wait to get tear-y eyed with you.
Again and again, again and again
We’ll laugh and we’ll cry, we’ll live and we’ll die to ourselves, to our pride, to our flesh (my-oh-my)
I just can’t wait to see your face, you and me growing old. We’ll raise a kid... babe, we’ll see (maybe two, maybe three)
I guess we’ll just have to see.
Love will point all the way to to the end, when I thank God face-to-face for his hand-made work in front of me
